Foster Stability in Times of Uncertainty

Jul 9, 2020 | Australian College

In this ever-changing world, nothing is ever certain. Tomorrow is never guaranteed. The plans you’ve made today may change tomorrow depending on the circumstances. Each step you take, you are taking risks and challenges are always present no matter what. It can be hard to cope when unpredictable things happen, so how do we maintain stability in the midst of uncertainties?

Build resilience skills

Be like bamboo. During a hurricane, the bamboo bends but does not break. Being resilient means you won’t allow yourself to become a victim of circumstance. Do not let negative thoughts drag you down. Resilience is a skill that can be cultivated.

Always be prepared

The future is uncertain. We don’t know when disaster will strike. No one can pull out a crystal ball to predict what will happen in the future. Planning and preparation are absolutely essential to always be ready for whatever comes your way. It takes a lot of self-discipline to prepare for contingency but it definitely pays off!

Improvise and innovate

Difficult situations let us use our creativity and imagination and allow us to develop agile skills to adapt and thrive in rapidly changing and stressful environments. When the pressure is high and challenges hit, it becomes the best time to improvise and innovate.

Be headstrong

Motivation doesn’t come easy. Every now and then we feel discouraged. That feeling is normal but it becomes unhealthy if you stay there for too long. Find the courage and the strength to take the necessary steps to improve the situation.

“If you don’t like something change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.” Mary Engelbreit

“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” Michael Jordan
