Shift Your Paradigm and Unlock Opportunities

The “paradigm” concept started in the early 1960’s by the philosopher Thomas Kuhn and since then, the term has been widely used in the world of Psychology, Politics, Sports, Medicine and Business. It helped Scientists create theoretical frameworks by providing clarity in terms of goal-setting and direction in their scientific research and other activities within a particular discipline. Some paradigm theories that we know are Newton’s theory of gravity, Darwin’s theory of evolution and Einstein’s theory of relativity.

According to, the word paradigm means:

a set of ideas that are used for understanding or explaining something, especially in a particular subject.”

How can we relate this to our daily lives?

If we take a closer look at history, we would notice that there is certainly a strong connection between paradigm and progress. When personal computers, mobile phones, the internet and all sorts of communication tools were invented, our lives were suddenly transformed completely. Most of the changes we experienced during this digital paradigm shift are positive and working in our favour.

Nowadays, the paradigm shift concept is not only used in the philosophy of science but can also be linked to personality development.

It’s considered as a fundamental change of how an individual or society view things in the world – it’s all about the transformation of human systems dynamics, including patterns of complexity in learning, development, management, and supervision in diverse environments. This may sound very complicated, but in reality, it’s actually something that we deal with in daily life.

When we choose to undergo a paradigm shift, big changes happen. Our perspectives and mindset take a 180-degree turn. This can be compared to demolishing a house and building a new one rather than just renovating it.

“If you want small changes in your life, work on your attitude. But if you want big and primary changes, work on your paradigm.”

-Stephen Covey

“Don’t underestimate the power of your vision to change the world. Whether that world is your office, your community, an industry or a global movement, you need to have a core belief that what you contribute can fundamentally change the paradigm or way of thinking about problems.”

-Leroy Hood

Your personal or professional life might not be the way you want it to be at the moment, but you can always do something about it. You have to start by throwing negative beliefs outside the window and stop thinking that you’re a victim of your circumstances, that your current situation limits you from achieving success. Replace negative thoughts by adapting the “anything is possible” paradigm. The challenges you face right now can be turned into opportunities for innovation. You can control your life and the results you want to achieve – make this your core value from now on.

“A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.”

-Francis Bacon

“When fate hands you a lemon, make lemonade.”

-Dale Carnegie
