This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff. Under the Education and Care Services National Law (2011) the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) publishes lists of approved early childhood education and care qualifications and information regarding regulatory requirements here: www.acecqa.gov.au
Workplace training:
There is a mandatory work placement requirement of 280 hours (minimum) to complete this course. Students are provided with the required to documents to support their Work Placement.
Although Australian College will support students, it is the responsibility of the student to find a suitable work place and obtain approval from Australian College for that workplace, before they commence any workplacement activities.
The work placement hours must be in an Australian regulated education and care service, which would include long day care, family daycare, preschools/kindergartens, occasional care and mobile.
Students will be required to complete:
HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting
You will need to undertake the first aid course unit externally, in your area (additional cost) and submit a copy of your certification to the College.
