What is the course duration?
The duration is flexible. Each course may vary in time for completion, please refer to the online course information for your maximum completion time. You can see more information in the course summary.
What is the minimum time-frame for completion?
Courses can have various durations and timeframes which students complete self-paced. In general, students usually complete our courses anywhere between 6 months to 3 years (depending on the course).
What is the study mode?
Study anytime, anywhere! We are utilising the best online technology available. You do not need to attend a traditional classroom setting.
Are there campus courses?
No. You do not need to attend a traditional classroom setting as you are able to study along with your lifestyle.
Are there any prerequisites for my course?
Some courses do have formal pre-requisite requirements. Please check the course page on our website to see if the course/s you are interested in have any formal pre-requisite requirements or contact our friendly staff. Informal entry requirements include access to a computer with word processing, PDF reader capabilities, and an internet connection. Good command of written English is also recommended, and consistent and active course progression (one unit per month).
What equipment will I need to study online?
You will need access to a computer with word processing, PDF reader capabilities and an internet connection. You can see more information in the course summary. If you prefer your learning materials in a hardcopy format (at an additional cost) you can request this on your enrolment or at any time after you enrol. The hard copies are not a mandatory requirement in order to complete your course; everything is made available online.
What are the payment options?

Is my course approved with Centrelink?
Some of our courses are approved with Centrelink, providing you are eligible to receive Centrelink benefits (you will need to check your eligibility with Centrelink directly). Phone (02) 9386 2500 to check with us if your course is Centrelink approved – we can provide you with a proof of enrolment letter to provide to Centrelink upon enrolment.
How do I enrol?
Click on the ‘Enrol’ button on the right-hand side of our website, to complete an online enrolment form. Our enrolment system online is easy, safe and secure and only takes only a few minutes to complete. To make the process as easy as possible please have the course information handy. Is the Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills test compulsory?
No, the test is optional. However, we do highly recommend & encourage completing it (5 minutes of your time) as it provides your trainer and assessor with essential information relevant to your academic ability.
Will I receive a certificate?
Upon successful completion of your course, you will receive a graduation letter that indicates you have successfully completed your studies with Australian College. Depending on which course you successfully completed, you will also receive an Australian College certificate and completion letter, or a Nationally recognised certificate and academic transcript, or a Statement of Attainment (SOA).
Can the qualification be a pathway to Uni?
Some of our courses may provide a pathway to University. Please check directly with your University. Each University has their own pre-requisite and/or entry requirements.
Is there work placement?
Some of our courses have a work placement component. Please check the course page on our website to see if this applies to your course.
Can I print the course materials?
As an online course provider, course materials are provided as soft copy i.e. students are issued log in and password details to access courses. Due to copyright purposes, the reading material cannot be printed. However you can purchase hardcopies of the reading material.
Can I purchase hardcopy textbooks?
Students are able to purchase hard copy materials and/or textbooks at anytime while their course is current i.e. their course has not exceeded the allocated duration. Please note, purchasing hard copy materials and/or textbooks is completely optional and not a requirement for our online courses. Therefore an optional expense.
Can I do the course without a high school diploma?
Some courses do have pre-requisite and/or entry requirements. Please check the course page on our website for all relevant information. We do highly recommend & encourage completing the Language, Learning & Literacy (LLN) assessment as it provides our trainer and assessor with essential information relevant to your academic ability. This enables us to guide you with your course selection and/or provide additional support to suit your learning.
What is Smart & Skilled?
Smart and skilled programs are government subsidised programs, therefore students are obligated to participate in the subsidised training. This means that a student’s continuing funding is based on regular participation in an enrolled course through the completion of online assessments as well as accessing learning materials. Students who do not participate according to the proposed training plan will be withdrawn from the course and the funding.
What is Traineeships?
A traineeship is where you work and gain a qualification at the same time. Australian College has Traineeships available and, you may be eligible for a government subsidised course. A traineeship lasts one to two years. You’ll learn, work and earn and when you successfully complete you will receive a Certificate II, III, IV or Diploma qualification. To be a trainee you must have an employer to hire you in the traineeship.
