- maintain
a good knowledge of the products/services being sold

use store sales procedures and undertake financial transactions
- use
point of sale equipment, electronic equipment and information

a high level of customer service and make sure that complaints
from customers are quickly attended to
- stay
informed about new lines of stock and any changes to the prices
of stock
- participate
in or draw up staff rosters
- set
up the layout of merchandise so that stock is presented as attractively
as possible
- set
up window displays, shelf displays, bin displays and gondolas
- monitor
stock levels and place orders with the warehouse or suppliers
when stocks decrease
- participate
in or undertake stocktakes
- apply
security procedures for stock and cash in the store
- use
ticketing methods to display price of stock and sales merchandise
