Learning Method: Correspondence with online support

• to undertake this upgrade course you will need to have successfully completed the prerequisite, which is the Freelance Journalism Course or equivalent
• access to a standard computer and printer to write your stories
• as little as an hour a week to learn
  

The personal attributes you will need to have include:

• an interest in journalism
• an enjoyment of reading (a journalist needs to remain abreast of current news topics)
• the ability to speak clearly when interviewing
• a reasonable command of written English
• basic writing skills (a knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammar)
• basic word processing skills (able to type)
• a willingness to learn and the desire to succeed
