the government and the new draft BAS legislation. With the Accounting
& Bookkeeping for BAS Service Providers Course you will undertake
all the government required modules necessary to gain your nationally
accredited qualification: The Certificate IV in Financial Services
(Accounting). Once you have achieved this you can choose to undertake
further learning if your wish, anywhere across the country; because
your national qualification will be recognised by all other training
organisations as well as industry.
This
course meets the Australian Taxation Office's (ATO) requirements
under the new draft legislation for BAS Service Providers (BSP).
Keep in mind that this legislation has not been released yet and
there might be changes to the requirements. It is expected to be
released in October 2008 but this might be delayed. The information
now provided on the ATO website relates to the current legislation;
not the new BSP legislation, which is still in draft form and so
has not been released.

The
Australian Taxation Office (www.ato.gov.au) states that a BAS service
is any of these:
(a) preparing or lodging an approved form about a taxpayers
liabilities, obligations or entitlements under a BAS provision;
(b) giving advice about a BAS provision;
(c) dealing with the Commissioner or a person who is exercising
powers or performing functions under a taxation law in relation
to a BAS provision.
If
you undertake any of these services then you will need to apply
to the ATO for a BSP licence.
